mssarahkwan:

and I have now visited two weekends in a row. I've often marvelled at Gehry's spiral staircase from Walker Court, so it was fun to climb up to the very top and see the exhibits on the upper floors for the first time that I can remember. I find that no matter whether or not you enjoy a particular piece of art or body of work, it's interesting to learn a little about someone else's perspective of the world - and it may just make you examine your own perspective as well.

mssarahkwan: Getting to see the work of @irisvanherpen up

Getting to see the work of up close and in person was marvellous. I've known of her mastery at using technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting to create her work, but to see the lengths she goes to create new materials and forms, whether using magnets to create texture, or melting plastic with hairdryers, or weaving, forming and burnishing metallic threads - is truly inspiring. In a world where we are often told to accept things as they are and colour within the lines that are set for us, we need people like Iris, who possess extraordinary vision, determination, and resourcefulness, to show us just how much we can do with what we have. ❤️
