Today, we joined thousands of our neighbors – and members of our Circles community from throughout the Bay Area – in the San Jose independent women’s march. The fight for equality is often difficult, even messy, but we believe deeply in standing shoulder to shoulder with women – and in rejecting discrimination in all its forms, including anti-Semitism. Proud to be part of a movement to make our world a more equal place.

ICYMI 🙌 repost from : Mic drop moment. used her acceptance speech to silence anyone who might think celebs shouldn’t get on their soapboxes at events like this. She announced she’s challenging herself (and everyone else) in everything she produces to hire 50% women. 🙌✨

Meet the women of the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley Circle. This is a community of women in the Bay Area who are focused on mentorship for Latinas. Together they have become a powerful force for change and have helped Latinas at every level of their careers lean into their ambitions—some members have even gone on to join city councils or the c-suite. 🙌 Use the link in our bio to check out our spotlight on the group, and join one of our 40,000 Circles.

✨American women made historic change at the ballot box this year. Texas elected its first Latinas to the U.S. House. Massachusetts elected its first Black congresswoman. For the first time, Native American women and Muslim women were elected to Congress. Two 29-year-old women were elected to Congress—the youngest ever. ✨ As we close the books on 2018, we celebrate this history-making year for women. And as we do, let’s keep up the fight—and turn these firsts into seconds, thirds, and many more. 💪 Photo Credit: Stephen Maturen / Getty Images

🎬 This year, diverse movies like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians became giant blockbusters—and reminded all of us why representation matters. 🙌 Trailblazers in the entertainment industry included Ava DuVernay, who became the first Black woman to direct a movie that earned more than $100 million at the box office, and Sandra Oh, who became the first Asian woman to host a major U.S. awards show. More firsts: This year, Spain appointed its first-ever woman majority cabinet. Georgia elected its first woman president, Salome Zurabishvili. Ethiopia appointed its first woman to head the country’s federal supreme court, elected the country’s first female president, and achieved a 50/50 gender split in the Cabinet. 🙌 📷: Alberto E. 🏆 Women were recognized for their scientific prowess this year. Donna Strickland became the first woman in 55 years—and the third woman ever—to win the Nobel Prize in Physics, and Frances Arnold became the fifth woman to win in chemistry. This was the first time in history that women have been honored with a Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry in the same year. 📷: Pascal Le Segretain—

2018 was a year full of firsts for women. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite trailblazing moments from the past year. We’re kicking off our lookback with some history-making moms. This year, Tammy Duckworth became the first U.S. senator to give birth while in office. And Jacinda Ardern made headlines when she announced she was pregnant just three days after becoming the prime minister of New Zealand. Nine months later, she gave birth in office and became one of only two world leaders to do so. Here’s to more working moms at the highest level of government—and here’s to the day when that’s not so unusual. 💪 Photograph by Chip Somodevilla —
