Post 5 from Art Basel Miami Beach by Apolo Gomez (). Yesterday there was a press preview for "Judy Chicago: A Reckoning" at ICA Miami () arranged by Judy's incredible publicist Ron Longe (). Here Judy is talking to the press about her series "PowerPlay" which she created in the mid 80's to address issues of toxic masculinity as well as the effect it has on the environment. This was my first press junket, it was fascinating to watch and hear all the great questions these journalists and editors had. This was the calm before the opening later that evening. -Apolo Gomez, Studio Assistant to Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman 94

"Through the Flower, my non-profit arts organization is launching a Go Fund Me campaign! The city of Belen, NM recently proposed the creation of an Art Space that would celebrate the history of my life in Belen with my husband, photographer, Donald Woodman. Though the proposal was met with great enthusiasm from people across New Mexico, it was prevented from moving forward in the proposed partnership with the city by a small, but vocal, group as a result of their protests to the Belen City Council which were greatly misinformed. Due to the numerous notes and messages of support from community members requesting that Through the Flower proceed with plans for this Art Space on our own, we have initiated a fundraising campaign to help us get started. Please go to the link in bio to find out more about our campaign and to support Through the Flower!" Thank you, JUDY CHICAGO 94 ArtSpace
