Running IS NOT the only way to lose weight! Running/Jogging is the first thing most people turn to when they want to lose weight. However, while it may work, it’s not the only way to lose weight. Let’s look at 4 other factors that are often overlooked and could potentially be more effective than going for a run. 1. Increase NEAT (Non Exercise Activity) levels. NEAT refers to your activity levels for the day. For example, a construction worker who’s on his/her feet for the whole day will have much higher NEAT levels than someone who sits at the desk the whole day. Every one mile you walk equates to atleast an additional 100 calories burnt a day. NEAT can make a huge difference to your daily calorie expenditure, helping you with your fat loss journey. For a start, aim to walk atleast 6000 steps a day and work yourself up to 10000 steps a day. This alone will help you shed a couple of pounds . 2. Decrease calorie intake. I will never be as jacked as him or her 2. They just have good genetics 3. They must be on steriods " We can achieve a fitness model look (or somewhat close) but it takes time (think months) and discipline. Different people might not want to be as and it is ok. We do not have to starve ourselves to be lean and ribbed. Certain tweaks in our lifestyles will help us achieve what we want. Adrenalin is the best drug. . Years ago, I used to party for 3 days straight. With curtains drawn sunlight was the enemy.. thumping bass, flying high as a kite.. I thought to myself for a moment “how the hell am I going to get out of this? This feels so good..” . Escaping ‘reality’ was my way of dealing with deep insecurities and unaddressed issues. . It’s a little different now. . If you read my previous post you’ll know what I mean. For me now, it’s the little things.. family time, good music, food and company...it’s also being able to push myself to where I never thought I could ever go. . Over the weekend, I’m proud to have competed alongside some stellar Athletes, the laughs.. fist pumps, locking eyes with one another in complete exhaustion knowing that you’ve given all you got.. more than you thought you would.. physically and mentally.. that’s the new drug. . 7 events 1 weekend.. annihilated with a smile.
